It has been a long couple days of traveling. There were no issues whatsoever in arriving in Barcelona via London, but when you fly out at 9:00 at night it makes for a few sleepless days.
Ï should say it was sleepless for me. Lauren seems to be able to sleep anywhere she lays her head. Cramped airplane, zero padding airport seats, back seat of a small European car, and waiting on an elevator. Seriously, I think I caught after she was dozing off, standing up, waiting on an elevator. Me on the other hand might have gotten a total of 2 hours sleep the whole way.
For those of you that don´t know Lauren she used to work with me at de Oplossing. When we weren´t busy and hard at work we would make fun of coworkers (If you´re a coworker reading this we would never make fun of you, just the person in the office next to you), she would catch me up on the fresh new raps ("fresh" is still a cool word to use, right?), and we would exchange quotes from movies. How all that transitions into racing around Europe for 2 weeks with each other I´m not sure, but here we are. For the record she is the one that put the bug in my ear to come to Europe. I´m sure her idea wasn´t for me to be here a couple months, but, again here we are.
We got into Barcelona last night around 8:00 and got picked up by Natalia. Natalia is a friend of Lauren´s friends the Lombardo´s. Lombardo´s, if you somehow read this, thanks for the conenction. Natalia has gone out of her way to make sure we are set up here in Barcelona. She drove us all around Barcelona until half past midnight. We ate tapas and had a beer at the Bilbao Berria around 11:30. By the way, if you have heard the rumor that Spain is a late night country it´s true. As we walked to the restaurant there were hundreds of people still outside enjoying the night. Most notable would be the Chinese guys sitting indian style on a concrete bench in their boxers drinking beer, the 50 people lounging outside of an 18th century church listening to random guitar players, and the little kids riding their bikes well past midnight.
Natalia is also allowing us to stay with her. She has a great apartment just outside of Barcelona and was a great place to finally get some good sleep. Today we are off walk around Barcelona. We are both pretty jet lagged and feel tired so who knows how long we will be out.
